Medical School Testimony

By Oseyi Omokhoa My testimony   This testimony has been 2 years in the making and I am so excited that I can finally share it.  I hope this inspires someone to trust in God’s plan because He really knows best ~ Jeremiah 29:11   11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a doctor; partly because I spent a lot of my childhood in the hospital and also because my mum was a nurse. I lived in Ireland at the time, but I had always wanted to go to University of Cambridge to study Medicine. I was and still am very ambitious so I wanted to go to a world renowned university. I thought that going to such a prestigious school would validate my intelligence, boy was I wrong. In Year 12 my focus was to get into Cambridge, that is all I wanted to do. I was so sure that I would get in that in year 12 I only went to a Cambridge o...

How's your Mental?

By Oseyi Omokhoa   Everyone struggles with their mental health at one point or another, and I’m not talking about diagnosable mental health exclusively. It may be something as seemingly little as intrusive thoughts, paranoia, acute anxiety or seasonal affective disorder (SAD). A lot of the time we want to come off as the ‘perfect’ Christian whose life is only full of testimonies and blessings. But it’s important that we are also discussing the negative things in our lives. Talking about mental health is hard, it makes you vulnerable, but that vulnerability can really help you, as well as someone else. A few weeks ago I saw the viral video of Kanye West having a mental breakdown at a political rally. From what I was able to gather the breakdown came from him talking about how he was almost aborted by his mother and how his daughter was almost aborted too. Most of the comments I saw were people saying that he is a grown man why is he so upset about this and etc. Being almost aborte...

How to be a light in the darkness

By Oseyi Omokhoa Hey everyone, I'm writing this post from quite a raw place right now but firstly I want to thank God for strengthening me and being my Comforter. Through the trials the Lord has always been with me so I have to thank Him! Dedicated to my Mum, Dad and Brother. RIP    So the title of this blog was inspired by the Holy Spirit when I was watching a video of peaceful protesters singing ‘Waymaker’ at a BLM protest. The Bible calls us to be a ‘light in the darkness’ – Ephesians 5:8 but what is light and what is darkness?   Light is a natural agent that makes things visible John 1:5 “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”   Darkness is th e absence of light, therefore things are harder to see Genesis 1:2 “The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.” As we can see, darkness and light are polar oppos...

A poem

By Oseyi Omokhoa I say that I love You, Because You loved me first, Then why do I run, when tough times come, Why do I hide from Your light in my shame, When I know You died to save me from my pain   I say that I love you, When times are smooth, When I feel Your presence around me like a hug, But when clouds hide Your light, And the path starts to twist and wind, Why do I feel like You’ve left me behind?   Is it because I forget Your promises? Is it because a fog of doubt stops me from seeing You, Or is it because my faith is fickle? Lord I know I love You, But please help me to remember just how much, That in the dark times You will be my crutch, And in the good times in You I will trust,   But for now I will say, Thank You Jesus, Because I now know that Your light is always there, Even when I am gripped with fear, Or when I am smiling from ear to ear, Your loving light shines on me, And I see the beauty of Your Wor...

Prayer of Rededication

This is a prayer for anyone who has made Jesus Christ their Lord and Saviour but has strayed from the path of righteousness and would like to find their way back. Oh Lord I give my life to you Take me as I am and shape me to be like you Use me to better your kingdom Help me that I will not miss it Rewrite my name in the Book of Life  That I may dwell in your presence all of my days In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen   To rededicate: give entirely to a person, activity or cause. By saying this prayer you have given yourself entirely to the Lord. You have been renewed in Him, all of your past sins have been erased and you are once again a candidate for His kingdom.  Colossians 2 :6-7 6  And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7  Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankful...

Content Consumption

By Oseyi Omokhoa So on Sunday evening, my twitter account was blocked accidentally. Initially I was disappointed and sad, sadder than I had expected to be. That shocked me because logically I knew that it was just an account and I really shouldn’t feel so low because my account can be restored. I did some self-reflection that night along with some prayers of course and I was led to do a complete social media fast for 24 hours. Since then and I have had a few revelations concerning social media: Revelations (through consumption clichés) An apple everyday keeps the doctor away; it depends on the apple, is it mouldy or fresh? The apple is the content we consume, are we taking in content that will edify [1] our spirits or feed our flesh [2] ? The truth is that the only ‘fresh apple’ is the Word of God. If we want to go deeper into the metaphor then the ‘doctor’ is deliverance [3] . Basically if we constantly digest the Word and allow it to work in us we won’t have need for del...

Prayer of Salvation

This is a Prayer for anyone who has decided to make Jesus Christ their Saviour and wants to accept the gift of Salvation.    Lord Jesus, I accept you as my Saviour You died on the cross for me You shed your blood for me Thank you Jesus for deciding that I was worth saving Holy Spirit come and dwell in me now and forever Guide me on the path of Righteousness Help me that I will not go astray And purify me from all of my sins Thank you Lord for loving me  In Jesus name I pray Amen!     Salvation is a gift that has been made available to us through the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary (Matthew 27-28). His blood was shed in the place of ours, he was the sacrificial lamb that was slain so we could all have everlasting life If you have just prayed this prayer, Congratulations you have now entered the body of Christ. You have been made a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17) and you have inherited the Kingdom ! (Matthew...

"Now I do what I want"

By Oseyi Omokhoa When I was a brand new believer, one of my favourite verses was Psalm 20:4, “May he grant your heart’s desires and make all your plans succeed”. I thought this meant that now that I have Jesus on my side, all of my wishes would become a reality. Obviously I was watching too much Disney. Then I came across Proverbs 16:3, “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed”. I thought, okay, calm. I just have all of my trust in God and I will get what I want. Not quite there yet. Recently, God revealed Proverbs 16:19, “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps” which means that I can plan out my life all the way from birth to death, I can cry out in prayer until my tongue twists but if it is not God’s plan for my life then I am just wasting my breath. All our lives we are asked, ‘what do you want to do with your life?’ From primary school all the way to university. But we need to start asking God what He wants to do with our lives. We nee...
